After 20 months of war, and three months of negotiations with the warring sides, a bit of relief arrives for some of the hundreds of thousands of people facing famine.

Civilians in the paramilitary RSF held capital of Sudan received their first aid convoy since the war began 20 months ago, volunteers said.

A convoy carrying food aid has arrived in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, for the first time since civil war erupted in April 2023. The country is currently experiencing the "world's worst hunger crisis", according to the United Nations, as a result of fighting between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The country is in the grip of the world’s worst hunger crisis but security threats have hampered the delivery of aid.
