The Met Office has issued a major update on its weather warnings as Storm Ashley descends on the UK today. The entirety of Scotland and Northern Ireland are under a yellow warning for wind, with an amber warning in effect for northwest Scotland from 9am on Sudnay until midnight.

The amber warning will be in force from 9am on Sunday until midnight, and the yellow between 3am and midnight.

The Met Office has warned of a danger to life as parts of the UK are hit by Storm Ashley. Winds of 80mph are predicted in places, with the first named storm of the season "likely" to bring a threat of injuries, the weather agency said.
