SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Power outages have prompted school closures for the third day in a row for some schools in East County. The San Diego County Office of Education on Thursday announced the closures for the following schools districts on Friday, Jan. 10:

At least three schools in Los Angeles suffered "significant damage" from ongoing wildfires in California as school district announced that they are closing due to the ongoing blaze.

California officials held a news conference on Thursday evening about the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. They announced that all Los Angeles Unified School District schools will be closed on Friday due to air quality and said they are hoping to get a 12-hour curfew in place inside the mandatory evacuation areas.
