Iowa men’s basketball player Payton Sandfort injured his left (non-shooting) shoulder during Friday’s game at UCLA and will miss the rest of the contest. Sandfort got tangled up with a UCLA player during the first half and went to the bench in pain.

Not much is going right for Iowa basketball on Friday night. The Hawkeyes took the long trip out to Los Angeles with hopes of picking up a massive Big Ten road win, and instead everything has fallen apart at the seams.

Driven by two sensational second-half performances, Iowa basketball senior forward Payton Sandfort has been honored as the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week.

Sandfort matched his career high of 30 points in a comeback win last week against Nebraska. And all 30 points came after halftime.

As has been the case for the majority of the season, Iowa was shorthanded against Nebraska. Freshman Cooper Koch was unavailable. Drew Thelwell, who started the previous five games and averaged 13.6 points during that span, did not play either due to a lingering issue
