At last check, Minnesota was located in the northern tier of the United States and is therefore in the zone which the foremost weather experts are sounding the alarm for wetter-than-average conditions during the cold season.

Winter is coming, but there are a bunch of questions that still need answers. How soon will winter arrive? How cold is it going to be? How much is it going to snow? Will it be warm enough for winter rain?

(KNSI) — Minnesota could see a relatively normal, but maybe wetter than average winter this coming season.

Meteorologists at the Climate Prediction Center (CPC), a division of NOAA, released the Winter 2024-25 seasonal outlook on October 17. Trends are leaning toward an above average winter in terms of precipitation in southeast Minnesota and North Iowa. Whether this precipitation will be rain or snow is still to be determined.

Large swaths of the South and the East Coast are favored to see warmer-than-average temperatures, while the Pacific Northwest has greater odds of cooler-than-normal conditions this winter.
