According to a senior Trump official, plans are in place to replace Vitello with Madison Sheahan, the current secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

ICE Director Caleb Vitello has been demoted as the Trump administration pushes for stricter immigration enforcement. Vitello, a 23-year ICE veteran, was reassigned after President Donald Trump expressed frustration over the slow pace of migrant arrests and deportations.

In just four days after Trump was sworn in, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) statistics showed over 1,000 people had been removed or repatriated, BBC reports. And on January 26, 956 people from across Chicago, Newark, New Jersey and Miami are reported as having been arrested by ICE and other agencies.
