After spending over two decades in WWE as Edge, fans quickly embraced the change when he jumped over to AEW and started going by his legal name Adam Copeland.

Adam Copeland never considered himself an actor until recently, with the AEW star revealing the inciting incident that made him change his mind.

Upon making his return to AEW, Adam Copeland underwent a name change, going as “Cope.” This shocked wrestling fans, who know him as Edge from his time in WWE and by his government name during his AEW run.

"He has been a ray of sunshine in the back," former AEW Women's World Champion, Nyla Rose, said during an appearance on " AEW Unrestricted ." "Talking to everybody, giving advice, and never shying anybody away.

Adam Copeland shocked the wrestling world when he returned to AEW programming at Worlds End and perhaps confused everyone when he began to go by "Cope." While fans remain divided on the name, former WCW and TNA ring announcer David Penzer took to social media to offer his experience to the conversation.

However, the official AEW roster webpage still refers to the wrestler as "Adam Copeland," so it is unclear exactly how official this new name is or how long it will last. It is entirely possible this is a test run for the name to gauge fan reactions.

Adam Copeland officially changed his AEW ring name to "Cope" on last night's special Fight for the Fallen episode of Dynamite. Teaming with FTR against the Death Riders' Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta in the Dynamite main event, Copeland was introduced as "'Rated R Superstar' Cope", rather than by his full, real name.
