Cuyahoga County is piloting a $5 million property tax assistance program to stabilize homeownership for aging residents struggling with tax delinquencies and facing surging home valuations.

Cuyahoga County on Monday announced a new tax assistance program to help seniors aged 70 or older and making less than $70,000 a year pay delinquent taxes and remain in their homes.

A proposed county program will provide one-time grants of up to $10,000 for people who are already behind, with income and age limits
