President Donald Trump and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul have spoken twice in the past week about ending congestion pricing in New York City, a source familiar with the conversation tells CBS News New York's Marcia Kramer.

The head of the MTA said he remained optimistic that President Donald Trump would not repeal New York’s congestion pricing program, even as the new president had conversations with Gov. Kathy Hochul in recent days about the plan’s future.

New York City’s congestion pricing program has been in effect for nearly a month, charging drivers $9 to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street. While some residents say traffic has improved, the Trump administration is reportedly considering pulling federal approval for the tolling plan.

Trump and Hochul had spoken on Monday about a range of issues in a pre-arranged call, the New York Post reported. The president and the governor spoke again on Thursday to discuss congestion pricing specifically.
