Maryland residents impacted by the layoffs in federal agencies could soon have an easier path to securing a new job in state government, Gov. Wes Moore said Friday.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced several additional steps he's taking to help federal workers impacted by mass layoffs and budget cuts. Administration officials say that more than 450 Marylanders who worked for the federal government have already filed for unemployment with the state.

The Democratic governor said his team will begin looking to put fired workers into open state and county positions through recruiting websites and job fairs.
