Mumbai Police has arrested auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly raping 20-year-old woman in Vasai. He is in custody for further probe.
According to police sources, the young woman, who resides with her family in Nalasopara, inserted the objects into her body to avoid being scolded and beaten by her parents for being raped by the auto-rickshaw driver.
The incident came to light when a passerby noticed a man lying in a pool of blood inside the car and alerted the local police. The Bhiwandi Taluka police rushed to the spot and shifted Qureshi to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the police informed his family members.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court in Belapur delivered the first conviction under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The court sentenced Shekhar Sukhdev Hatkar to one month and 10 days of simple imprisonment for committing gold theft, punishable under Section 303 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
