World champion figure skaters, a pilot planning his wedding and teenaged skaters seen as the "future of the sport" were among the 67 victims of the deadly midair collision between a commercial jet and a U.

The Washington Capitals community and young skaters across the DMV are mourning the victims of the American Airlines plane crash, including those with ties to local ice rinks.

Several members' of the U.S. Figure Skating community were onboard the American Airlines plane that collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk Helicopter over Washington, D.C., the governing body said in a statement.

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin skating community is mourning the victims of the plane crash in Washington, D.C. The Fond du Lac Blades, a figure skating group, told our affiliate WISN that one of their beloved test partners, Aleksandr Kirsanov, was among the victims. The team said he often came to Fond du Lac and worked with figure skaters.
