A yellow weather warning remains in place as Storm Ashley hit Northern Ireland overnight. The first named storm of the season is expected to bring winds of up to 80mph in parts of the UK. Temporary flood defences have been erected along parts of the River Lagan in Belfast in anticipation of the storm.

The Met Office has issued an Amber Severe Weather Warning for Northern Ireland as Storm Ashley intensifies. The warning is currently in place for Sunday, October 20, and Monday, October 21. Storm Ashley has battered parts of the UK with strong winds and heavy rainfall causing the Met Office to issue both amber and yellow weather warnings.
