LOS ANGELES — The archaic computer dispatch system for the nation's largest sheriff's department remained out of commission on Thursday after crashing on New Year's Eve, forcing deputies to handle all calls by radio, authorities said.

A new wildfire was reported today at 3:37 a.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. There is no update on the containment progress of the fire and its cause remains undetermined.
