Things are heating up in Phoenix after the Mercury acquired 5-time All-Star forward Alyssa Thomas in a trade with the Connecticut Sun, per reports.

The Connecticut Sun are finalizing a sign-and-trade to acquire star forward Alyssa Thomas from the Phoenix Mercury, ESPN's Alexa Philippou reported

I hope you’re sitting because the massive free agency deals aren’t slowing down. First, Kelsey Plum and Jewell Loyd were traded, and now five-time WNBA All-Star Alyss Thomas is on the move. Thomas is reportedly joining the Phoenix Mercury via trade, the second landscape-shifting move in less than a week.

The Sun will receive guard Natasha Cloud, wing Rebecca Allen and the No. 12 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft in exchange for Thomas. Ty Harris will also head to Phoenix in the deal. The full trade was initially reported by Howard Megdal of The Next and later confirmed by Philippou.

Brittney Griner is officially moving on from the Phoenix Mercury. Griner is signing a free-agent contract with the Atlanta Dream when free agency opens Sunday, ESPN's Shams Charania and Alexa Phillipou first reported.

Brionna Jones, a formidable post presence, joins forces with Brittney Griner, Rhyne Howard, and Allisha Gray on the Atlanta Dream.

But on Jan. 28, Griner reportedly agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Dream, which would be the 34-year-old's second WNBA team after spending 11 seasons in Phoenix. Fellow top free agent Brionna Jones on Jan. 30 also reportedly agreed to join Atlanta, a major double haul for the franchise.
