Thanks for all your kind messages,” Rossellini wrote on Instagram on Friday morning, posting a photo of her with Lynch.

David Lynch, the American filmmaker, visual artist, musician, and actor, has died at 78. His family announced the death in a Facebook post on Thursday, January 16.

Lynch was best known for his films such as Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and the groundbreaking TV series Twin Peaks, and his influence on film and television is immeasurable.
