The SALT deduction is a federal tax break for filers who itemize to deduct up to $10,000 of some taxes from their taxable income.

Governor Kathy Hochul has proposed what she describes as the largest expansion of the child tax credit in New York State’s history.Eligible families could receive a yearly tax credit of up to $1,000 for each child under the age of four.

She also proposed creating a pool of child care teachers and substitute teachers through to provide staff to keep child care centers open and to work in new centers that will be built.
