While there was no winner for Saturday night's Powerball jackpot, one person who purchased a ticket in Southern California came close to winning the top prize and is raking in some big bucks.

A Powerball ticket sold in Lake Elsinore was the state's biggest winner in the most recent lottery drawing, but came just short of winning the ultimate prize.

The Powerball jackpot has gone unclaimed since Aug. 19, when a California player won the $44 million grand prize, lottery officials said. To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

No tickets were sold with all six numbers in Saturday evening’s drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery, pushing the estimated jackpot for Monday’s drawing to $456 million. Two tickets were sold in California and Pennsylvania matching five numbers.
