Generic waffle brands at retailers across the U.S. are being recalled after listeria, a potentially fatal bacterial disease, was detected at a manufacturing facility, according to announcement from the Food and Drug Administration.

Treehouse Foods recalled frozen waffles due to a possible listeria outbreak in a Friday release. The brand sells items in commercial stores across the United States and Canada. The company says the issue was discovered during routine testing at their manufacturing facility this week.

TreeHouse Foods has issued a voluntary recall for its frozen waffle products that are sold at many retailers across the country and in Canada.

Hundreds of waffle varieties by various brands have been recalled by the manufacturer because they could potentially be contaminated with listeria.

Some products were sold under the brands of major retailers like Kroger, Price Chopper and Walmart. No illnesses so far have been linked to the waffles.

The recall includes various certain frozen waffles sold in Walmart, Target, Publix and other stores. Some waffles for brands like Kodiak Cakes, Simple Truth and Food Hold have also been recalled.
