A severe cold wave has gripped North India, with Delhi being wrapped in a thick blanket of fog. The dense fog has caused zero visibility, disrupting flights and trains. According to officials, 51 trains are running late,

Yesterday, more than 200 flights were delayed as visibility dropped to zero at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dense to very dense fog in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Punjab and Haryana. Visibility at IGI Airport this morning remains at zero, according to IMD.

Delhi and several North Indian states, including Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, are experiencing severe cold waves with dense fog. The capital’s air quality remains poor. Night shelters offer refuge to the homeless as temperatures plummet.

While Delhi is shrouded in an unprecedented nine-hour stretch of dense fog, severely affecting air and rail travel, Shimla recorded its warmest January day ever, only for the region to brace for an impending snowfall alert.

New Delhi: Dense fog has blanketed several parts of North India, reducing visibility, lowering temperatures, and disrupting train and flight operations. According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) over the past 24 hours, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 16°C, three degrees below normal, and a minimum of 7.6°C.

Several major airlines, including Air India, Indigo, and SpiceJet issued advisories regarding potential flight disruptions.
