Crews with Cal Fire and Santa Cruz County have stopped forward progress of multiple brush fires that shut down northbound Highway 1 and triggered an evacuation order on the southern end of the county Monday,

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters are responding to several fires in Santa Cruz County, just north of Watsonville. The fires are burning near Highway 1 at Buena Vista and Mar Monte. Cal Fire and the Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County are responding to the fires.

Firefighters were battling several small grass and vegetation fires Monday afternoon near the Buena Vista exit of Highway 1.
