Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman has found his replacement to be the next general manager of the program. And he went to one of the NFL's most successful teams in recent years to do it. Mike Martin has been the director of scouting advancement for the Detroit Lions for the past four years.

Notre Dame landed a balanced offensive class during the 2025 cycle. The Irish hit all their numbers needs, landing a quarterback, a running back, three wide receivers, a tight end and four offensive linemen.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that the Irish and Marcus Freeman have offered their general manager role to the Detroit Lions's Mike Martin. In fact, Notre Dame hosted Martin and his wife, Cari, from Tuesday through early Thursday this week on the South Bend, Indiana, campus.
