Fans of Shakib Al Hasan, a Bangladeshi politician and cricketer, on Friday gathered outside the Mirpur Cricket Stadium in the capital Dhaka to protest ahead of the BAN vs SA Test series at home. Shakib flew from the United States to join the Bangladesh team but cancelled the trip to Dhaka while he was in Dubai due to `security concerns`.

It appears that Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, supposed to return to the country on Thursday night for the upcoming Dhaka Test against South Africa, will not be returning home after all amid security concerns.

Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is unlikely to travel to his native country for his final Test match, against South Africa in Mirpur, Dhaka from October 21-25, due to protests against him in the city.

Shakib Al Hasan had been apprehensive about returning to Bangladesh because of concerns about his family's safety.

Earlier last month, the BCB also clarified that Shakib's appearance at the first Test against SA in Mirpur would all be contingent on the security concerns that could arise.
