Ofwat said it expected Severn Trent customers' average yearly bill of £398 in 2024-25 would rise to £583 by 2029-30. The company said the bill rise would help its efforts to halve spills by 2030, reduce pollution by 30% and reduce leakage by a further 16%.

Water giant Severn Trent has said it plans to hand shareholders a higher dividend for the next year as trading remains in line with targets. It said its financial performance up to January 23 “remains on track”, with it set to meet its guidance for the full financial year.

The proposed increase comes amid intense scrutiny over sector payouts, particularly given rising customer bills and concerns about leaks.

Severn Trent PLC SVT shares inched up 0.49% to £24.84 Thursday, on what proved to be an all-around positive trading session for the stock market, with the FTSE 100 Index UKX rising 0.23% to 8,565.20.

Shares of Severn Trent (LSE:LON:SVT) saw a modest increase of 0.2% following the company's announcement that its dividend policy for fiscal years 2026 to 2030 is set to continue as expected.
