This excellent timelapse shows the arrival of snow at Huck's Bridge over Crookdale Beck in Cumbria last night. It was filmed over 10 hours and shows the snow falling on the A7 between Shap and Kendal. It was captured by Farson Digital Water Cams and a live feed can be found here.

A number of schools in north-east Scotland have been forced to close after the country was hit by overnight snow and ice. More than 80 schools and nurseries across Aberdeenshire, Moray and Highland council areas are shut due to snow and poor driving conditions on what should have been the first day back for pupils after the holidays.

Heavy snow and freezing rain has brought widespread disruption across the U.K. with several major airports forced to suspend flights and many roads in the north of England unnavigable

East Midlands Railway (EMR) says there is disruption across multiple routes due to flooding this morning. The line between Derby and Long Eaton is currently closed and heavy rain has shut the line between Grantham and Nottingham.
