MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A large fire burned Monday afternoon at an encampment in Minneapolis' Phillips neighborhood. What we know: The fire is burning in the area of East 29th Avenue and 14th Avenue South. Aerial video shows crews working to knock down flames.

Crews are investigating after a large fire burned Monday afternoon in south Minneapolis, displacing Fire officials could be seen battling flames and heavy smoke at what appears to be an encampment near East 29th Street and 14th Avenue South.

The first fire was reported at an encampment at East Lake Street and Columbus Avenue at 1:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived and found a small rubbish fire that was deemed unsafe and a propane tank within the fire that had a pressure relief valve venting, causing potential danger for rupturing or exploding.

A large fire destroyed an encampment in south Minneapolis on Monday afternoon, causing propane tanks to explode and sending a plume of smoke above the city. There were no reports of injuries.

Minneapolis public works cleared what was left of the encampment Monday evening, after fire crews extinguished the flames. Chief Tyner said there was also an encampment fire on Lake and Chicago Streets on Monday. He explained there were no injuries to his knowledge, and the encampment was not a total loss.

Fire crews battled a massive blaze at a homeless encampment in Minneapolis on Monday. The NWS is warning SoCal residents to be prepared as a life-threatening, destructive, widespread windstorm is expected to sweep through much of Los Angeles and Ventura counties Tuesday through Wednesday.
