Savage, Minn. native Dawson Garcia had quite the journey before joining the Gophers. Despite six-figure offers to hit the transfer portal, he opted to stick things out with Ben Johnson and Minnesota and he finally got his moment on Thursday night.

Dawson Garcia, who finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds, helped the Gophers beat No. 20 Michigan for their first victory over a ranked team in nearly four years.

Garcia rewarded Patterson’s faith in him, receiving the pass and heaving up a shot. He found nothing but net, setting off pandemonium inside Williams Arena. Garcia’s buzzer-beating three-pointer sent Minnesota to an 84-81 win over No. 20 Michigan, one of the Gophers’ most significant victories in recent memory.
